Kris

Also know as the keris or kalis, this sword was found in the souther region of the Philippines. Likely this sword was inspired by similar weapons brought over by Muslim traders and adapted to the warring needs of the region. The Kris is often used as a symbol of independence, bravery, and power.

Along the hilt of the sword is the Python. This is a symbol of protection and a connection to the ancestors. While from different regions, I thought the combination of the two symbols as a unifier was important for depicting the experience of Filipinos as a whole.
