I was visiting my favorite farmer to pick up groceries. She has a couple dogs and part of my grocery ritual each week is getting covered in mud whilst making-out with them.

Anyway, on this particular day, one of the dogs had a raccoon skull with it. My head filled with intrusive memories from working in a veterinary hospital…dogs suffering from bone fragments puncturing their insides.
No thank you.
We took the skull from her and told the farmer.
She thanked us, said she certainly doesn’t want it laying around for her animals to choke on.
She said she has no use for it, but doesn’t want to toss it.
I asked if I could buy it off her.
She gently cradled the skull in her hands before handing it to me.
She said, “Make something pretty with it.”

I spent days cleaning and reassembling teeth.
I liked that despite the routine bleaching it kept some character to it. Unique to the raccoon who once lived in Brooksville, Florida.

I love antiquing and went on the hunt for the perfect plaque. I was so pleased to find this one because its gorgeous, a beautiful resting place for my buddy’s head. But, more importantly, it’s hand carved by someone named Sarna. It sits off the wall (see last pic)

Often, I’m annoyed by having to figure out how to hang things, especially when it’s something fragile. So, I’ve pre-installed hanging hardware.
It will come with 2 sets of screws and drywall anchors. Just incase you mess up.

You can skip the drywall anchor and just use the screws if thats more your thing, too.
