Todaaaay I am featuring another one of my favorite designs from my October flash sheet!
These designs were inspired and referenced from the Art-Studies from Nature as applied to Design, a book published in 1872 meant to inspire architects, designers, and manufacturers in capturing the unique beauty and adaptability of native English flora for the purposes of Ornamental Art. Who knew it would be inspiring tattoo art a century and some change later! This, along with many other primary historic references directly influences and inspires my ornamental work.
Though these designs are more true to the source and the time period, I feel you can definitely see the inspiration along with the blending of other styles, such as art nouveau, in some of my other ornamental work - especially my Zodiac Floral Friday 13th series.
These two designs (Anemone and Muskroot) are still up for grabs! Swipe to see the third design of the series that was already claimed (water crowfoot). Swipe again to see it 1 week healed!
I hope to eventually create decorative ornamental work that reflects our own native flora inspired by historic sources like this. If you’re interested in these, or in working on something inspired by these, please reach out via email! Super excited to find these homes and to keep working on this series!
